Lagos Travel Guide

Introduction to Lagos

Lagos is one of the most exuberant and not to mention, largest cities in Africa. Although Nigeria dominates West Africa, politically and economically, the area has a reputation for instability and corruption. However, if given a chance, another side can be seen.
Nigeria’s capital has an incredible live music scene as well as fantastic street life, with stalls lining the road sides at most times of the day. This is definitely the place to come for an urban adventure.
If you want to escape to more natural pastures, Lagos has a wonderful conservation park full of wildlife and nature trails, or there are the soft white sands of Elko beach to enjoy.
Lagos may be a gritty and often hectic city, but the welcome you’ll receive is one of the warmest in Africa!
Lekki Market
For a taste of the real Lagos, head to the bustling, chaotic and always exciting Lekki Market. Fearless shoppers that make the trip will be rewarded with a wonderful selection of African masks, beadwork, cloth and a huge array of fruits and vegetables.
The National Museum at Onikan
Located on Lagos Island this museum houses numerous exhibits of Nigeria's ancient civilisations and has a craft centre which sells examples of Nigerian craft at great prices.
Cross River National Park
This is a place of majestic mountains and rolling hills, with wildlife from leopards and buffalos to chimpanzees, gorillas, baboons and elephants.
