Eating and drinking in Lagos

There are restaurants of all varieties to be found in Lagos. European and Oriental food in particular, is widely available. Although there are some self-service cafes, they are mainly to be found in the department stores. Most restaurants have table service. Nigerian food is typical of that found throughout West Africa. In the north, meat is more popular than in other areas, alcohol is expensive and only the larger hotels have bars and cocktail lounges.
Regional specialities include sweet potatoes, Suya (barbecued liver and beef on sticks) and Kilishi (spiced dried meat). Goat meat is also eaten often while antelope is considered a delicacy.
